Plan ahead to attend a choir concert on Friday, March 10. The choir of California Lutheran High School will come to Shepherd of the Mountains that day to bring us the gospel. We will serve them dinner and host the choir members in our homes. Please plan to be a part of this event, and invite your friends to come and enjoy the concert!
On Sunday, January 22nd the voters of Shepherd of the Mountains approved a resolution to start another mission congregation in the North Valleys of Reno and have the first service on Palm Sunday, March 25, 2018. There is now a lot of work to be done! On Saturday, March 4, the joint council and mission expansion committee of Shepherd and The Springs will meet to plan out the work that is before us. Please keep this work in your prayers. Ask the Lord to grant us the opportunity to bring his gospel to many hearts! Please also keep in mind the costs of starting a mission when you plan your offerings. We will only succeed if we have the Lord’s blessing!
A new Bible Information Class will begin in January. This class is for anyone who is interested in learning the basic teachings of the Bible, refreshing their knowledge of Scripture, or joining Shepherd of the Mountains as members. If you are interested in participating in this class, please speak to Pastor Derme.
As a part of the building project, The Springs will pave an outside fellowship area with clay pavers. If you would like to buy a paver and have it engraved with your name or other words, ask Pastor Derme for an order form and return it to him when you have it filled out.
Mark you calendars for some Christmas cheer! North Star Chamber Players are hosting a Christmas concert here at SOTM on Sunday, December 18, at 2 pm. Come hear some of your favorite carols, selections from Nutcracker, and more! We hope to see your there. Thank you!
On Friday, January 13, there will be a family game night in the Fellowship Hall. Please plan ahead to join the fun!
The Sunday School students have a busy December schedule preparing to present the Christmas Eve service. In addition to practicing during their scheduled class times, there will be two extra practices: Sunday, December 18, from 10:30 - 1:30 (There will be no Confirmation Class, and lunch will be provided) and Thursday, December 22, from 10:00 - 12:15.
In addition, the Sunday School students will sing in church one Sunday, the date to be announced.
