             Shepherd of the Mountains will hold a mission festival on October 16, featuring Apache Pastor Kirk Massey from the Apache reservation in Arizona. He will preach the sermon and present on the work of the mission among the Apache. A potluck will follow the presentation. Please plan to attend and bring your favorite dish!

             Our WELS Sierra Circuit joint Reformation service will be on Sunday, October 30 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Citrus Heights. The service begins at 4:00 p.m. Pastor David Waterstradt of Hope Lutheran Church in Penryn will be the preacher.

             The joint church councils of Shepherd of the Mountains and The Springs will meet together on Saturday, November 5^th at 9:00 a.m. at SotM.

• The Sunday School students are going to hear about the end of the era of the Judges, starting with the birth of Samuel, and will learn about some of Israel's kings.
• On Oct. 16, Sunday School students will join the adult Bible Class to hear of the mission work being done among the Apaches in Arizona.
• Students will sing twice in October:  the 16th and the 30th.
• Offering envelopes have been purchased and students will be encouraged to bring weekly offerings.

• On Oct. 10 there is a family activity in the afternoon and a trip to a pumpkin patch.  Look for more information to follow.

      Looking ahead to November:

• Octemberfest will we celebrated on Saturday, November 5th, at the Frankes, starting at 4p.m.
• Sunday, Nov. 20, is our Bible Sunday Potluck. It will begin right after Sunday School and Bible Class.

               Shepherd of the Mountains has a new and powerful website that can help our congregation plan and coordinate events. We have an active presence on social media by which we work to spread the gospel. There are also many more opportunities to use technology as a tool for our mission. Daniel Ellsworth will begin leading technology workshops at SOTM to help us in these efforts. These meetings are open to confirmed members who want to support our online evangelism efforts. We meet on the first Sunday of each month following Bible class. Please bring your laptop if you have one.
