A New Opportunity...a letter from Marianne Foster

null

I can’t believe a year has already flown by!!  When asked to come back to Rhode Island a year ago, the request was made for me to come out for two years and see what was needed at that point for the company and the department.  During my first year back here, our Manager of International Audits left the company and created an opening.  The opportunity was one I could not resist; first, it is a promotion, and second, it has the possibility of incredible travel options!

I applied for the position and was blessed to become the new Manager of International Audits (effective in July 2016).  In this role, I am responsible for auditing all international locations for IGT on lottery and gaming.  I will get to pull auditors from both the Providence and Reno teams to perform the audits with me, so I will still get to work with everyone I know.

The only disadvantage is that the position will be based out of Providence, Rhode Island for the moment, and could potentially move to London in the future.  This means that I will not be moving back to Reno after the 2-year mark passes.  I will still come back to Reno as frequently as I can; you won’t be able to get rid of me that easily.

I am extremely excited about this new position, and cannot wait to roll up my sleeves and get started!

See you soon!

Marianne Foster
Internal Audit Manager
(International)

Back to Sunday School

null

Sunday School is such an important part of the work we do to train up the next generation in the faith. On Sunday, September 11 we will celebrate the kickoff to our new Sunday School year. There will be an open house in the classrooms, and the Sunday School teachers will provide coffee hour snacks.  We will focus on the blessings of Christian education in church. Also, the Sunday School students will sing during the service, so please make plans to attend church and Bible class that day, and invite your friends to join us – especially children for Sunday School for Kids!

Love Fund

null

You may not know that Shepherd of the Mountains has a Love Fund to help our members who are in need. More than one member has trouble paying rent or buying gas and groceries. This fund is a way to show Christian love to our brothers and sisters in need. Since some members have on-going needs at this time, please consider gifting this fund on a regular basis. Just put a check in the offering plate and designate it to the Love Fund.

null

On Sunday, September 4 we will hold our annual joint Labor Day Weekend Service and picnic a The Springs Lutheran Church in Sparks.  The service will begin at 10:30 am. Please look for a signup sheet on the Communication Center bulletin board for food that our congregation will provide for the picnic. There will be a shortened 9:00 am service at Shepherd of the Mountains, but there will be no Bible class or Sunday School that day.

Lower Level Patio Work

Jason Dunphy from the Board of Trustees has informed that work on the new lower level patio will begin on this Wednesday and will continue throughout this weekend.  Please try to avoid the area while the lower level patio is being demolished and replaced - the area will be closed.  You can still park and enter the church through the upper level while work is being performed on the lower level.
